The following graph compares the actual percentage of patients undergoing a craniotomy who died before being discharged from Cedars-Sinai with the percent of expected deaths for patients of the same age and gender with a similar diagnosis, procedure and complications. While 24 percent of physician respondents had ever been divorced, the probability of being divorced was 25 percent among dentists, 31 percent among health care executives and 33 percent among nurses. On the basis of expected divorce declines, the P scores for the available months indicated shortfalls ranging from 21.6 percent in Missouri to 36.4 percent in New Hampshire.
